Tuberculosis  Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There are two phases: latent infection and active disease. Active TB disease most often affects the lungs, but can involve any part of the body. TB is transmitted through the air; extended close contact with someone with infectious TB disease is typically required for TB to spread.

Infectious Disease Resources  Infectious diseases, from flu to pertussis to measles, affect all of us at one time or another.  Public Health, on the state and local level, monitors the occurrence of infectious diseases, develops strategies for preventing and controlling those diseases and works to put those strategies in action.

Refugee Health Assessment  Kandiyohi County Public Health Department staff members work with local private health care providers to offer refugees new to our county a comprehensive screening examination and follow-up or referral. Refugee health assessments help diagnose health problems and help protect the health of others in Minnesota by treating communicable diseases.
